History of the Village of Komárovice [ History ]

The first known mention of the village dates from 1270. Initially, it was a Bishopric fief, later it became a part of the Kelč manor belonging to the Olomouc Bishopric. At the school in Komárovice, an important Valachian poet and writer Metoděj Jahn teached in 1901-1919. His novel Selský práh (Rustic House Threshold), issued in 1913, is based on his life in Komárovice.
