Urban monuments preservation area Horšovský Týn [ Městská památková rezervace ]

The earliest mention of Horšovský Týn dates to 973, when Prince Boleslav I made over the Týn estate to the bishopric of Prague.
The town itself dates to between 1186 and 1192, and is dominated by the castle founded sometime after 1260 by Bishop Jan III of Dražic, subsequently rebuilt as a Renaissance chateau.
Among other notable monuments are the houses on the square with the Church of St Peter and Paul, the town hall, the town walls and the former Capuchin monastery and church.
